Catherine O’Hara died on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at her home in Los Angeles. The Canadian-American actress and comedian passed away following a brief illness, according to her manager. As of the publication of this article, the exact cause of death has not yet been released.
O’Hara had been in television and film for over five decades, beginning in improv and sketch work. She is most memorable for her roles in blockbuster films such as “Home Alone” and “Beetlejuice.” Her later portrayal of Moira Rose on “Schitt’s Creek” reignited her career and earned her multiple awards, including a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe.
Macaulay Culkin, known for starring alongside O’Hara in Home Alone, shared his thoughts on Instagram.

The Canadian-American actress supported multiple charitable causes, including Target Ovarian Cancer in 2021 and the UNH Foundation in 2024.
