The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School student council is collecting gently used formal wear clothes leading up to prom. Students or faculty members who wish to donate any pieces of clothing can drop them off in the Student Activity Center or Room 142.
“It means a lot to be able to help not only provide necessities to people, but to allow them to own luxury items like formal wear, or maybe even other forms of clothing or things they can use in their life in the future,” Thomas Sanchez, sophomore student council member, told The Fanscotian.
Donations will be accepted until Friday, May 1.
Both the junior and senior prom will occur in June, allowing for the clothing drive to provide students in need with clothes to wear. The student council is in charge of planning and running prom every year, and this formal wear clothing drive is a new addition to the annual event.
For many students, prom is a highlight of the year, and this clothing drive is a simple but meaningful way to allow for more students to participate in the day.
Junior prom tickets are currently being sold and can be purchased on Wednesday, April 22, after school in Room 142. In order to be eligible to purchase tickets for the junior prom, students must complete all required forms in advance.
