The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Mental Health Awareness Club will host the Wellness Festival in the Media Center during lunch this Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The festival will encourage conversations between students about mental health and help students feel supported.
The event’s goal is to create a comfortable space where students can learn more about mental health and talk about important topics that are sometimes avoided.
“The festival is a place where organizations come to help talk about mental health struggles and make it more normalized,” board member Avery Sincavage told The Fanscotian.
Several organizations will attend the fair including YMCA, Peace of Mind Yoga, Resolve, Brave Minds, Imagine and the American Foundation for Suicuide Prevention. These organizations hope to raise awareness about mental health while helping students find healthy ways to manage stress and emotions.
The fair will also include raffles, activities and prizes for students. Each group attending plans to bring something interactive to help students engage with the festival. There will also be two therapy dogs, Acorn and Spiffy, which students can interact with and pet.
“The club is hoping that people are going to come and have a good time and feel like they gained something from seeing all the [organizations],” Sincavage said.
The festival hopes to create a more understanding school community. The event will help students to learn more about mental wellness and encourage students to take advantage of the support from the organizations.
