Choir students attend Eric Whitacre concert

On Sunday, Apr 8, several students from the music department attended a concert at Carnegie Hall featuring singers that performed songs written/arranged by popular composer Eric Whitacre.
Whitacre also conducted the singers, who were accompanied by a string quartet for a couple of the selections.
The singers performed a variety of selections, including The Seal Lullaby, which the choir performed on their annual music department trip and will perform in their spring concert.
The students who attended very much enjoyed the performance, and hope to do something like this again. Choir teacher Jan Allen, who organized this event, makes sure to expose her students to live music as often as possible, as it can be a good learning tool to help improve their own performances.
Many other chances for the music department to hear live music, including a performance by our school’s Chamber Choir at Carnegie Hall next month, are coming up.
