The freshman boys basketball team has had great success in the 2017-2018 season and picked up another victory against Governor Livingston last night, January 30th.

After a slow start, the Raiders found themselves in a neck-and-neck game at the end of the first quarter. The Raiders eventually were able to get hot in the second quarter with threes by Matt Drubulis and Matt Sierant. The Raiders led at halftime by a score of 28-27.

Though the game seemed like it was going to be competitive throughout, the Raiders took advantage in the second half.

Thanks to key outside shooting and great inside play by guards Sierant and Drubulis and centers Liam Mahr and Christian Piesch, the Raiders took a commanding lead in the third quarter.

The third quarter started with a quick 12-0 scoring run by the Raiders, which led to an immediate Governor Livingston timeout. The Raiders were able to continue playing well through all the momentum they had and extended the lead to 20 by the end of third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Raiders didn’t look back. They continued knocking down three’s and playing great defense to extend the lead even further so Governor Livingston had no chance of coming back.

The final score was 74-49. Guards Matt Sierant and Matt Drubulis led with 22 and 19 points respectively, to push the Raiders to victory.
