The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School volleyball team defeated Elizabeth at home on Thursday, Oct. 1.
SPFHS won the first set with a score of 25-20 but lost the second 18-25, taking the game to a third set. They proceeded to win the last set with 25-15.
The first set featured long volleys as both teams fought hard to score points. The SPFHS senior Fallon Goldberg made multiple saves. That, along with a few blocks from sophomore, Hannah Finan, led them to win the set.
The third set started as a struggle between the two teams. With an equal chance at the win, they both put their best onto the court. Senior Rebecca Freedman served exceptionally well, resulting in Elizabeth’s struggle to receive. By the middle of the set, it was evident that Elizabeth had lost confidence and the Raiders took advantage.
The Raiders record stands at eight wins and three losses. They look to make it nine wins on Friday, Oct. 2 as they play at Westfield.
