The Bowling team competed in individual portion of the Union County Tournament on Tuesday. Senior tri-captains Jeremy Haas, Sam Mahler, and Matthew Haas all competed in the tournament.
The team sent three bowlers to the final stage of the tournament in which only 18 bowlers competed. The only other school to send three bowlers to this portion was Rahway. Matthew was able to make the stepladder portion of the tournament. This is where the best five bowlers out of the 18 who qualified for Tuesday’s round compete in a tournament where the fourth ranked bowler played the fifth ranked bowler than the winner went up against the third ranked bowler and so on until they get to the finals. Matthew qualified third, but lost in his match against the winner of the 4 vs 5 match Aaron Heimall of Roselle Park. The eventual county champion was Darius Singletary of Rahway. Mahler finished 12th and Jeremy finished 15th.
The team will compete on Wednesday in the team portion of the event, and on Friday in the state tournament.
