With so many people in this world obsessing over music in their day to day lives, some may be wondering how all of this music got here. Whether it be over a popular artist’s latest album, a new musical movie, or a raging concert, people just can’t stop listening to music! But, getting involved in music as an everyday person is pretty simple. It’s just a question of how.
For some, it’s just appreciating an artist’s work. “Getting involved in music is as easy as listening to a song! You can appreciate what an artist puts out and the effort they made to make something their own,” sophomore Rica Lopez said.
Others who want to take it a step further in Middle/High School to get involved in music may consider other options.
“The music department I filled with so many people who are all so close. All the different groups offer various opportunities to get you involved,” junior Alexa Vierschillin said. “You can choose just one choir or one band that won’t take up a lot of your time. But you can also do more. I do five choirs as well as the fall play and Rep. So I am busy every day after school… But it’s all worth it because of the people you meet and form such strong bonds with over time.”
Exposing students to music in high school is setting them up for a potential life-long impact.
“Music in high school is a once in a lifetime experience,” sophomore Ameilia Collins said. “It provides opportunities that you could only come by at a professional level as an adult. Students in the music department are part of an organization with so much heart and drive and community. Everyone really cares about what they’re doing, and that makes the results so much more special.”
