On Monday January 8th Scotch Plains-Fanwood boys varsity basketball defeated Governor Livingston in a nail biting victory.
Governor Livingston put up a tough match in the first half. The game was moving extremely quickly, keeping fans on the edge of the bleachers. By the end of the first quarter, the score was 16-10, in favor of the opposition.
By the end of the second quarter, the Raiders were winning 25-23, catching up from the first. The crowd was pumped up from the increase on the scoreboard. Senior Tommy Dubulis scored two 3- pointers
Four minutes into quarter three, the game was all tied up, with both teams scoring 27 points and the coaches started to change their lineup on the court. The quarter ended with the Raiders having 36 points on the board.
In the fourth quarter, the Raiders really picked up the heat by scored 23 points. Senior Lamott Cruse scored 10 points in this quarter alone.
After a nerve wracking beginning, the boys really took their passion to another level, ensuring that SPF would attain this victory. With each team member putting in their maximum effort, the intensity of the game increased exponentially. The possession changed in a matter of seconds, and the crowd was anxious to watch the boys take home a victory. Although GL started the game off strong, SPF ended it stronger.
