On December 6, Scotch Plains hosted the Fall Sports Awards, commemorating athletes and their academic achievements. Senior Andrea Leitner delivered a speech to encourage underclassmen to continue to strive in their athletics and to support each other through their friendships. Ryan Miller quickly summed up his speech and played a video of the Tennis, Volleyball and Girl’s Soccer Team for the first half of the event.
Individually, each coach and their corresponding teams walked up onto stage and the coaches congratulated their hard working athletes and named all the people who are eligible for a letter, which is a badge that signifies an athlete’s achievements. Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School’s athletic program is getting better every year, with personal records being beaten and teams taking on rivals that seemed impossible.
At the end of the ceremony, seniors had the chance to go to the front of the auditorium and thank their coaches, friends, and family for pushing them to do their best and work hard. The Raiders continue to push strong with athletics and are now moving into the winter season.
