After a close game, the Raiders girls soccer team continued their successful season with a 2-0 win over Watchung Hills on Nov. 8 at Watchung Hills Regional High School.
The game was even for the majority of the time, but the Raiders managed to capitalize on their opportunities and win the game by two goals.
Both goals were assisted by junior Danielle Mrozek with her crosses from the right side of the field. The first goal being volleyed in by senior captain Christina Rodgers and the other headed in by junior Gina Fahrenholz. These were Mrozek’s first two assists of the season.
“Once Danielle [Mrozek] crossed it, I knew I had to get a touch on it because it was a great ball, so I volleyed it and hit it to the left of the goalie and it luckily went in,” said Rodgers.
The Raiders had a long fight with the Warriors with many shots from our offense.
“Scoring the first goal was the best part of the game because we all knew we could do it and we were waiting for us to score,” said Rodgers.
After struggling in the first half, the Raiders made changes at halftime that proved to be a difference maker in the game.
“The kids made adjustments,” said head coach Kevin Ewing. “We made adjustments at halftime. The kids listen to it and that was the difference.”
The girls look forward to playing and hopefully moving on after their game against Ridge on Friday Nov. 11 at 2 at Wexler Field.
