The Raiders boys lacrosse team endured a hard loss against the Westfield Blue Devils. The final score was 12-1.
The Blue Devils started strong and maintained their connection with solid passes throughout the entire game. They ended the first quarter with a 4-0 lead, while the Raiders stayed resilient.
Senior Scott Nizolak was able to juke away from defenders and secure a goal in the third quarter, but it was all they could muster against a good Blue Devil defense. Westfield extended their lead to 9-1 by the end of the third quarter and eventually scoring three more in the final quarter.
Coach Miceli was disappointed in the boys after the disheartening loss. This game sets the team’s record at 5-3.
“I thought our effort was not there,” Miceli said. “Our past two games that we lost our boys battled. I thought here we got a little down early and we were never able to get out of that hole.”
Miceli is looking to work hard in practices and strengthen the team for future games in order to perform better.
“I think the intensity just has to be there,” said Miceli. “We have to get our battle level back.”
