The last home varsity basketball game of the season was a disappointing loss for the Raiders this Tuesday.
After the Senior Night celebration showcasing the team’s departing seniors, Aaron Lee, Danny Balico and Jalen Stone, the boys varsity team lost 55-43 to Rahway.
A quick and aggressive start from Rahway brought them to the lead in the first period, with the Rahway Indians dunking several baskets before the Raiders secured their two penalty shots.
Right at the start of the second period, SPF hits the court hard to make their slow but steady comeback.
Seniors Lee and Balico led the offensive against Rahway, with Lee making driving in several shots on basket by the fourth quarter and Balico leading in 3 point shots for the game.
“Better than the first time,” said Lee, referring to their last run-in with Rahway. “We played well as a team and we came out aggressive.”
Though Rahway’s tight defense proved to be a formidable challenge for the Raiders, they turned up the heat in the final minutes of their game to even up the score to 55-43.
“We played with a lot of heart for our last game,” said Lee.
The Boys Varsity Basketball team will play against Plainfield this Thursday.
