Ari Rosenzweig improved his season goal total to nine as the senior forward scored the lone goal in the Raiders 1-0 victory over Bridgewater-Raritan on Sep. 26 at Wexler Field.
The co-captain scored after receiving a pass from Zach Cimring and chipping the ball over the Panther keeper. Rosenzweig has now scored in seven of SPFHS’ eight games this year.
The Raiders had many other chances throughout the game and could not convert.
“We should finished a lot better,” coach Tom Breznitsky said, “we should have had several goals in the match. We had the opportunities. We didn’t finish and we were a tad unlikely.”
Goalkeeper Sean Murray and the Raiders back played very well, not allowing the Panther attack many quality chances. For the first time since Opening Day against JP Stevens, the Raiders shutout the opponent. Last season, the Raiders only allowed opponents to score in eight of the team’s 26 games.
The match finished off an important week for the Raiders. They defeated Elizabeth on Sep. 21 and tied Hunterdon Central on Sep. 24. The Raiders next two games are against Union and South Plainfield.
