The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School girls volleyball team came back from a third set deficit to defeat the Cranford Cougars 25-15, 6-25, 26-24.
“It wasn’t perfect,” coach Adrienne Stack said, “but when I needed them to do what was hard, they didn’t settle for what was an easy point. They made it count.”
The Raiders were down 15-19 in the third set, but rattled off four straight points to tie the game. After Raiders and Cougars kept exchanging points until the Raiders rattled off three straight points to win the set and the match.
The first two sets were not as closely contested as the final set. In the first set, the Raiders were ahead for almost all of the set and went on a 13-5 run to end the set. In the second set, Cranford always had a lead and were never really challenged.
