On November 19, Brian Lapham became the next Raider to play a sport for a Division I college when he signed his letter of intent to wrestle at Bucknell.
Coming off a year where he went 28-2, securing 12 of his wins via pin, Lapham became known across the state. In addition, Varsity wrestling head coach TJ Gavor regards Lapham as one of the best wrestlers he’s ever seen.
“If you look at the statistics, the numbers speak for himself.” said Gavor. “He has the most wins over the past three seasons than anyone in the program.”
Heading into his senior year, Lapham has accumulated 67 wins, 14 more than anyone else in the wrestling program currently. In addition to Lapham being one of the best wrestlers he’s ever seen, Gavor believes that Lapham can become a recognized wrestler at Bucknell.
“Being a nationally ranked wrestler is nothing to sneeze at,” said Gavor. “It’s a pretty huge commitment, the level of competition is remarkable. But I certainly think he can be up there with the best of them with the right work and dedication.”
