On November 27, 2025, senior Hana Zamor announced her commitment to the Ithaca College women’s wrestling team. Wrestling at 145lbs, Zamor was drawn to the school due to the success of the program.
“Seeing the program that has started up as well as the great physical therapy program and the community as a whole drew me to Ithaca,” Zamor told The Fanscotian.
Ithaca College is a private college located in Ithaca, New York founded in 1892. With just over 6,000 students, popular majors include business, communications and health sciences. The Ithaca Bombers compete at the Division III level against the likes of Nassau, Utica and Wilkes. The women’s wrestling program is only in their first year at the university, however is already 2-0 in the young season.
For Zamor, joining a young program gives her the opportunity to make an impactful mark that will last for years to come.
“I was one of the handful of girls when we had our first official girls wrestling match here at the high school so I hope to make something better at Ithaca too to leave for the girls who come later on,” Zamor said.
A varsity wrestler for all four years of high school, Zamor has been a key wrestler for the SPF girls wrestling team, taking home the individual Union County Tournament championship as a senior along with placing second in the Lady Patriots tournament her junior year.
“It felt amazing to win counties [this year],” Zamor said. “We went from not having counties my freshman year because girls wrestling wasn’t big enough to now having an amazing coaching staff and being able to push ourselves in practice to be better.”
Zamor was also a part of the team that won the first ever girls wrestling team Union County Tournament championship.
“The thing I’ll miss the most is the group of girls I’m leaving behind [in SPF],” Zamor said. “I have made so many friends and memories with the upperclassmen on the team.”
Zamor and the SPF girls wrestling team have grown into a successful program at SPFHS, going 7-2 in 2024-2025 and are currently 8-1 in the 2025-2026 season. One of the fastest growing sports in the whole United States, girls wrestling has become present at many high schools throughout New Jersey.
“My favorite memory from [high school] was our first official match and the creation of the girls program and seeing where it is now,” Zamor said.
Already in her final season as a Raider, Zamor has her sights set on collegiate wrestling when she takes the mat in Ithaca.
“I just want to continue wrestling and hopefully build a strong start into the program,” Zamor said.
