On Thursday, April 23, 20 student-athletes were celebrated in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School new gym as Signing Day took place. An annual event, signing day is a way for the community to recognize students who will be continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
The ceremony began with athletic director Dr. Ryan Miller speaking briefly about the event before allowing each student-athlete to be spotlighted with a speech from their coach. From golf to wrestling, SPF sports were well represented at signing day and showcased the strong focus on both academics and athletics at SPFHS.
The class of 2026 will be represented at all levels of college athletics in years to come. Two students will be competing at the Division 1 level, one student at the Division 2 level, 16 students competing at Division 3 and one student competing at the Junior College level.
For senior quarterback Logan Weiss, the event was a perfect way to cap off his senior year.
“Signing day was a great experience,” Weiss told The Fanscotian. “It was cool seeing people I’ve gone to school with for years at the same event I was at with all of us celebrating. I was grateful to have had the opportunity to be there.”
