Marking the relaunch of the Habitat for Humanity club at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, the first fundraiser of the school year took place on Sept. 17 at Scotch Hills golf course and resulted in $1,345 raised for the club. Seniors Billy Babis and Ian Johnston coordinated the event with the help of club adviser William Miller and Greater Plainfield Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Jeremy Montgomery. Of the $50,000 needed to co-fund the building of a new home in Plainfield, the club has raised more $28,000. Construction on the new home began on Oct. 10.
