The Scotch Plains-Fanwood girls team defeated Oak Knoll 100-70, and the Scotch Plains-Fanwood boys team won 102-62 against Oratory Prep on the final home regular season swim meet of the 2013-2014 on Jan. 28.
The Scotch Plains girls had several first place swims with Sarah Davis first in the 50 and 100 Freestyle, Isabella Iacona in the 200 IM and Stephanie Judge in the 100 Butterfly. Scotch Plains girls also won the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Freestyle Relay.
The Scotch Plains boys also had some impressive first place swims with Chris Bubnov in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke, Matt Marino in the 200 IM, Sam Bebout in the 100 Butterfly, Brenden McKenna in the 500 freestyle and Michael Rash in the 100 Breaststroke. The all-senior relay team of Bebout, Monzella, Peart and Warne also placed first for Scotch Plains.
Seniors Demi Debonis, Gabriella DePaola, Julie Haggan, Melissa Harris, Emma Sherry, Sam Bebout, Andrew DiBiasse, Brendan McKenna, Jacob Monzella, Jeff Peart and Andrew Warne were honored at the meet by their coaches and teammates with flowers.
The assistant coach, Judith Sharkey commended the seniors’ hard work. “We are going to miss them a lot and they have all contributed a great deal to the team. The team will not be the same without them,” said Sharkey.
