The Vietnam War Memorial was unveiled in downtown Scotch Plains on Nov. 10, honoring the men and women who served. Several Vietnam veterans spoke at the event, including Robert LaCosta, Joseph McCourt and Ralph Checchio, all Scotch Plains residents. The memorial also honored three men from Fanwood who lost their lives in the Vietnam war: Charles Burns III, Eugene Hendricks and Edward M. Klaniecki. Money was donated by civic organizations, residents and local businesses. The memorial is located at the Scotch Plains Municipal Building, 430 Park Avenue.
