As 2016 comes to end, we begin to reflect on the year as a whole and the trends that have plagued it. To quote Kylie Jenner, “I feel like this year is really about, like, just the year of realizing stuff”, and as healthy eating has become more prevalent, new age millennials have begun to pay closer attention to what’s in the food they eat.
The veganism movement has picked up steam all over the US, so it almost seems almost fitting that a the new juice and bowl bar, Ono Bowls, has just opened up in downtown Westfield, NJ.
Since it’s recent opening in early November, Ono Bowls has been drawing in crowds of health food addicts and those who just like to pretend to be healthy, like us, who create lines out the door.
Ono Bowls offers a wide array of fresh pressed juices, but the shop’s main claim to fame are their acai bowls. The bowls are a popular cold treat that consist of blended acai fruit with granola, honey and fruits of your choice on top.
The acai bowls at Ono Bowls are one of the best we have ever had, and that definitely says a lot, since similar juice and bowl bars have been popping up all over the place.
The bowls had the perfect ratio of acai to granola, so you weren’t just eating spoonfuls of granola, which is often the downfall of other shops like Playa Bowls and Juice House. In addition, the fruits themselves were very fresh. We opted for the Ono Classic, which is topped off with strawberries, blueberries and bananas, as well as a Coco bowl which is again made with acai and topped with strawberries, coconut, pineapple and hemp seeds. Both were equally delicious and well made.
Ono Bowls is definitely the place to go if you’re craving a refreshing treat or just to see what the well deserving hype is all about.
