P.A.W protects animal welfare

The Protecting Animal Welfare Club (P.A.W) was founded at Scotch Plains Fanwood High-School this year by junior Emily Cohen. Club members dedicate their time volunteering at the Plainfield Humane Society once a week where they clean cages, as well as play with and walk the animals.

“I think the best part of volunteering there is getting to see first hand how sweet and caring street animals can be,” said junior Emily Cohen. “The animals at the shelter are so kind and lovable and I want to show people they shouldn’t be afraid of them.” Meetings are held once a week in Mr. Ritters’ room, room 130, where the club members brainstorm ideas on how to expand the club.  The club is organizing a  fundraiser to raise money to improve the  Plainfield Humane Society’s facilities.
