Sophomore Shona Jain, left, and senior Alyssa Goldsmith refill their Camelbaks at the new Elkay surface mount water-bottle filling station across from the main office. The station was purchased by members of the Environmental Club, who earned more than $900 working at the Fanwood Recycling Center, and was installed by the Building and Grounds Department. The club hopes the sensor-activated filling station will help to decrease the use of disposable water bottles in the school.
The fountain features a filter designed to reduce lead particles and chlorine in the water, along with discoloration and odor. “The new water station makes filling my water bottle fun, and it will encourage students to drink more water,” said sophomore Dakota Halma.
