Westfield is in for a treat as Sweetgreen, the plant-forward restaurant chain, opens its newest location in the heart of downtown. With a menu full of fresh salads, warm bowls and protein plates, this new addition elevates healthy dining options in the area, offering locals a nutritious alternative to fast food. Situated at 221 E. Broad St. since Feb. 4, the new eatery takes over the former location of The Farmhouse Store.
Sweetgreen’s Westfield location is the eighth established location in New Jersey, where there are currently locations in Jersey City, Montclair, Marlton, Shrewsbury, Montvale, Morristown and Shops at Riverside. The company is also preparing to expand its restaurants to Hoboken as well. Sweetgreen’s continued growth in New Jersey, including the Westfield location, reflects the company’s mission to bring plant-forward meals to more communities and make healthy eating accessible to all.
“I [think] the food [is] very diverse,” SPFHS junior Riley Boozer told The Fanscotian. “It’s good to have more healthy restaurant options in a town where most people want fast food.”
Boozer had previously visited Sweetgreen in New York City and was eager to try the new location once she found out about its opening.
The company was founded in 2007 by three college students in Washington, D.C. who were looking for a healthier way to eat. Since establishing the restaurant chain and making their mission possible, Sweetgreen has grown to be located in 23 different U.S. states, catering to a variety of dietary preferences.
For those looking to explore Sweetgreen’s offerings, the Westfield location is open and ready to serve both in-store guests and those ordering for pick-up or delivery. For more information, visit Sweetgreen’s website at sweetgreen.com or call 908-408-2328.
