After a week off, it would be expected for any team to be lackadaisical and slow to start their next game, but not our Raider boys volleyball team. From the second the match started the intensity and energy from the players could be felt all throughout the gym.

As a result of this intensity and energy, the Raiders went on to take the first set 25-16 behind many calculated and well-executed plays.

The Raiders would come out of the break with a little less energy and focus, going down 5-2 early in the second set, but they quickly regained their energy and focus as they would win the second set 25-18.

Not only were the players bringing energy to the match, but many spectators were too. As they cheered, clapped and rooted for the Raiders all throughout the match.

Many familiar faces were in attendance for the match such as our Superintendent Dr. Joan Mast and Athletic Director Ryan Miller stopped by to support.

“I thought we played really well today,” Senior volleyball player Jeremy Zimmerman said. “After having a long week off I think we really brought it together well and played with a lot of energy. We are looking ahead towards the next round and on.”

The Raiders will look to continue their success into the semifinals of the North Jersey Group 3 state tournament against Randolph on Saturday at 2:30.

Good luck to the Raider boys volleyball team in their next game and beyond as they look to capture a second straight state championship.
