After two years of high anticipation, “Euphoria” has finally returned. Season Two premiered on January 9, 2022.

Is it time for new beginnings? Or will our faves still go crawling back to make the same mistakes as last season? Season Two opens up with a typical New Year’s Eve rager that the entire main cast attends by the New Year’s countdown.

Before we are thrown into the party scene for the first few moments of the hour, viewers finally see Fezco’s backstory. Fezco was the only main character who did not have a formal backstory in the first season, so it was interesting to see how he grew up and became the man we meet in the series.

As the episode cuts back to the party, Lexi is frantically searching for her sister Cassie as they had gotten into an argument and split up on the way to the party, in hopes that her sister made it to the party.

There are some brief glimpses of Kat speaking to Jules, but she is not featured much in this episode.

Cassie made it.

In the most unthinkable way possible. She arrived with Nate. Arriving at a major party with your best friend’s abusive ex-boyfriend is one thing, but almost getting caught is another–by Maddie of all people.

Is it time for new beginnings? Or will our faves still go crawling back to make the same mistakes as last season?

Another highlight of the episode is everyone’s favorite Will they?/Won’t they? couple–Rue and Jules.

After Rue almost overdoses, she and Jules reunite and have a chilling conversation outside the house party. Rue essentially blames Jules for her relapse due to her absence.

The episode wraps up with a major brawl (between Nate and Fez) and a rekindling of love (between Rue and Jules).

Tune in this Sunday on HBO or HBO Max at 9pm to see what “Euphoria” brings next.
