A day after the first weekend of scrimmages, everything changed for SPF sports.
Various sports programs were temporarily suspended on Sunday, Sept. 27 as players have tested positive for COVID-19.
Some practices for Monday, Sept. 28 have been canceled and some team activities are postponed until further notice, according to an email obtained by The Fanscotian that was sent by athletic director, Ryan Miller.
The correspondence also requested that these SPFHS athletes quarantine until “the next communication is distributed” and that while a negative test is reassuring, the incubation period can take up to 10-14 days.
The fall sports season was expected to kickoff next weekend.
Since March 2020, there have been 368 COVID-19 cases, and 15 coronavirus-related deaths in Scotch Plains, according to scotchplainsnj.gov as of Sept. 24, 2020.
