On Dec. 27, the boys varsity basketball team won the Anthony J. Cotoia Holiday Tournament, beating Perth Amboy Tech and South Plainfield High School. The tournament was hosted by South Plainfield High School in South Plainfield, New Jersey.
The tournament began on Dec. 26, where the Raiders beat Perth Amboy Tech with a score of 56-43. Senior Justin Fletcher and juniors Raul Lugo and Hayden Widder led the team in scoring with 12 points for Fletcher and 11 for Lugo and Widder.
The next day, the Raiders cemented their win with a 56-49 victory over South Plainfield High School. Senior Justin Guy scored an impressive 14 points and junior Mateusz Sierant had 11. In addition to the victory, Guy won MVP of the entire tournament, scoring a total of 18 points over two days.
The win was a big deal for the Raiders, who were coming off of a tough loss on opening day against Colonia High School. They hope to keep this winning streak going over the rest of the season.
