The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Boys Ice Hockey team faced a tough loss on Tuesday, Dec. 17, when they fell to rival town, Westfield, with a final score of 4-2.

SPF started the game with a great save from junior goalie Ryan Lamberta, as the group continued to come together as a cohesive team, taking the puck down to the Westfield goal several times during the first quarter. Westfield had the edge, however, rounding out the first quarter with 22 shots on goal and a goal scored by Will Gamba with two minutes left.

Westfield increased their lead during the second quarter, with successive goals coming from John Humiston, Thomas Conrad and Nick Forno early in the quarter. Although SPF made nine attempts at scoring, the team went into the third quarter trailing Westfield 3-0.

In an attempt to put the Raiders back on the board, both Tim Lamberta and Kyle Remo scored a goal during the last quarter. Lamberta had a beautiful assist coming from Will White, making the play a marvel. Although there was a valiant effort put in, the SPF went home with a loss to an equally hard-working team.

The team looks to improve on their 2-7 record at their next game on Dec. 22 versus Livingston at United Sports Arena.
