On Thursday, Oct. 18, students from DECA and Future Business Leaders of America visited MetLife Stadium for the annual Jets Sports Business Day. The trip included a tour of Metlife Stadium, numerous presentations from Jets Executives, as well as tickets to the Jets vs. Texans game on Dec. 15th.
The trip opened up with a tour of the stadium, which visited points of interest like the locker room, the Coaches Club, Commissioner’s Clubhouse, press box and the field.
“My favorite part of the tour was going onto the field because not many people get the opportunity to go to an empty MetLife stadium and stand on a field professional players play on,” sophomore Ryann Wall said.
At each point of interest, there was a Jets executive who spoke. Each executive talked about what he or she does for the team, what experience they had before entering the industry and what advice they had for any student who wanted to pursue a career in the sports industry. Speakers included Vice President of Consumer Sales and Service Larry Fitzpatrick, Vice President of Premium Partnerships, Group, and Inside Sales and Service Roberto Beltramini, as well as Team Reporter Olivia Landis.
“From the trip, I learned about what the sports marketing industry does and how it impacts the functionality of the franchise,” Wall said.
At the end of the tour, students were able to walk around the field and see the view from the turf. It was a productive trip that opened up opportunities for students and provided an additional source of education outside the classroom.
