On Tuesday, June 5th, the Student Government Association held a free screening of the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”. Students were invited to set up blankets and chairs on the lower field of the high school and enjoy “Movie Night” with friends.
Members of SGA made colorful chalk drawings of arrows and movie related images to publicize the movie night and also indicate to students the direction of the lower field.
When entering, a big blow up projector was set on the grass, as students slowly began laying down blankets and towels to enjoy the movie. Chatter and laughter filled the area as sun started to set.
Clubs were invited to set up snack stands, selling cupcakes and other baked goods. The clubs used the opportunity to fundraise and advertise for upcoming events. For instance, the Fanscotian sold 2000s themed snacks to allude to their upcoming senior issue.
At around 8:30 pm, the movie began as the sun was down. Several teachers also took time out of their night to chaperone the event, and enjoy a “classic” movie with students, setting up chairs to watch.
The first final begins this Friday, June 15th, so the movie with friends gave time to relax before the non-stop studying begins.
This event was definitely a success, with students staying to enjoy a classic movie with their friends enjoy snacks from the fundraising tables.
