On Friday March 2, Student Government Association teamed up with the New York Blood Center for Scotch Plains Fanwood High School’s annual Blood Drive. Yet again, the event was very successful in getting many students to sign up and donate blood in order to support those in need of transfusions.
The NYBC was a great sponsor for the event as they provide over 200 North East hospitals with blood. Doctors and nurses worked to ensure the students ate and were in good condition before donating their blood. NYBC also provided students with snacks and drinks for after their donations.
SGA served as a helping hand for the event as the five members created sign ups and advertisements for the event.
“We advertised the blood drive and helped with sign ups to get people to donate,” SGA member Lauren Trentacoste said. “Also, we helped students after they got their blood taken, we made sure they got snacks and got to class safely.”
The Blood Drive is a great opportunity for students to give back and SGA hopes to continue working with the New York Blood Center in order to save more lives in the future.
