The high school’s literary magazine, “Muse”, hosted their annual Open Mic Night on Friday, April 28. The event showcased the talents of a variety of student performers and raised needed funds for the magazine’s publication.
The night was packed with instrumental performances, singing, poetry, and even comedy. Meanwhile, the Muse officers, Alex Fischmann, Molly Ryan, and Laurel Elkin, worked hard to ensure that everything ran smoothly.
“Open Mic Night was so much fun,” Fischmann said. “I’m especially happy with the turnout.”
Open Mic Night started off with Fischmann reading a beautiful poem written by Phoebe Collins. Following was multiple musical acts, including, but not limited to, junior Bailey Brown on drum set, and singing from freshman Sophie Pritchett, sophomore Cristabella Fortna, sophomore Molly Ryan, and many others.
Another noteworthy act was from sophomores Tori O’Connor, Vanessa Handy, and Alex Fischmann. The three sang several songs accompanied by their ukulele playing.
“I think that Open Mic Night was a great success…” Ryan said. “Everyone had a great time…I’m really looking forward to it next year.”
At the end of the night it was clear that everybody, both performers and attendees, enjoyed themselves and that Open Mic Night was a success for all involved.
The Muse literary magazine will be released in the beginning of June and the officers are encouraging students to submit their original poetry and photography to be published.
