On Wednesday March 29, the girls lacrosse team had their first game of the season against Cranford High School. Both teams are equally competitive, with Scotch Plains ending last season with a record of 8-12 and Cranford with wins last year.
The final score of the game yesterday was 8-15, with Cranford taking the win. The team fought hard, but fell short when it came to consistency. Juniors Sabrina DiLollo and Kelly Mehorter each contributed goals for the team.
Captain junior Amber Bretz has been on varsity for the past three years, and has experienced a lot of change during that time, including the resignation of their past head coach and the implementation of new head coach Virginia Weber.
“I am really excited for this upcoming season,” Bretz said. “As a whole, the team really needs to focus on refining simple skills such as catching and throwing to help strengthen our program.”
Girls lacrosse plays their next game against Paramus on Friday March 31.
