The 2nd annual, Scotch Plains-Fanwood Township sponsored Trunk or Treat Halloween Celebration and Food Drive was held this week on Oct. 30th.
The goal of this event was to collect canned goods for those in need and provide a welcoming environment for children of all ages to go trick-or-treating.
The Halloween celebration was packed with children and adults donning costumes of all sorts – some of which included an ice cream man, a gumball machine, batman, and supergirl.
Children were welcome to explore different elaborately decorated cars on the blocked-off street and collect candy from each one. Hence the name of the event, “Trunk or Treat”. Cars were sponsored by different types of businesses and groups, including the Union Catholic Athletic Department.
Children and parents were invited to take part in activities which included a hayride, a balloon artist, different vendors with food and beverages. There was also a parade across the Municipal Building stage, which included a costume contest where contestants won gift cards to local places around town.
The event went exceedingly well, and many are looking forward to another Trunk or Treat event next fall.
