On Friday, October 21, seniors Hunter Marshall and Brianna Sorrentino were named this year’s homecoming king and queen.
In past years, homecoming royalty was announced during halftime at the homecoming football game. This year, the Student Government Association (SGA) organized a coronation on the football field immediately following school on Friday before the game.
For a first-time event, the turnout was impressive. The lower sections of the bleachers were filled with students there to support their friends. There were several marching band members at the event playing music to start and finish the event. The Blue Diamond Step Team performed a steps right before homecoming king and queen were announced. SGA sold pretzels during the event.
The ceremony lasted approximately 20 minutes. Hopefully, holding homecoming right after school on Friday becomes a tradition; it has the potential to be a great source of school spirit.
