The SPF Raiders girls soccer team defeated the Franklin Warriors 2-0 in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 tournament at Wexler Field on November 1.
Danielle Mrozek achieved the first goal of the game with an assist from one of the team captains, Sophie Brause, while Kerri McNeely scored the second goal with another assist from Brause. Additionally, goalie Andrea Leitner made two saves throughout the game.
“The girls played very well. I was very happy with their performance,” Coach Ewing said. “They go out and play hard every single game, so I have to be happy with that.”
The team’s offense was consistently impressive over the course of the game. Several times the girls came very close to scoring more goals against the Warriors.
The only thing Ewing mentioned that the team needs to work on is finishing their opportunities.
The team will advance to play Woodbridge in Elizabeth at a later date.
