The SPFHS Science League team took home several wins for the 2016 January competition this week against Watchung Hills High School.
Seniors Daniel Zheng and Zakary Elseht took first and second place in the Physics C competition, while the Biology I, Biology II, Chemistry I, Chemistry II and Physics I took second place.
The competition was held in Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School on Jan. 14. After an hour long session of test-taking, run by SPF’s Science League coordinator Michael Abadir, the participants were given a pizza-party break. Winners were announced later once the club advisors from SPF and Watching Hills High School finished grading the tests.
“We’re off to a good start,” said Abadir. “There’s a healthy competition between Watchung Hills and SPF that helps motivate us to do our best.”
The next Science League is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 11 at the Watchung Hill High School. The SPF Science League hopes to bring home a plaque by the end of the year as top 10% in the state.
