On Halloween evening, Scotch Plains hosted a Halloween Celebration in town for families to enjoy small activities and contests between trick-or-treating.
The celebration was held in the Village Green on Halloween evening preceding the traditional Fanwood Halloween parade. The kids enjoyed a series of costume contests along with pumpkin decorating and hayrides around the block.
The celebration began with the “Trunk or Treat” where children received candy from local businesses.
“It’s a great event. The kids are enjoying it and it serves as a nice way to get pumped up for the Fanwood parade,” says one Fanwood resident. “I’ll definitely come back next year.”
The Scotch Plains Cultural Arts Committee planned the event this year, and the Scotch Plains Mayor Kevin Glover confirmed plans for future Halloween Celebrations. “This was brought back for the first time in I can’t tell you how many years,” said Mayor Glover. “It will live on. We will be doing this again next year… for 2016, 2017, and many years to come”
