On Oct. 3, 2025, Taylor Swift’s 12th album came out inspiring each and every one of her fans, including me. Each song had a different beat or tune that really drew me into the song. It is so impressive; every song is written and sung by her as she enters her new era!
1. “The Fate of Ophelia”
The quickly trending song is many fans’ new favorite because of the uplifting story it tells. Many fans fear that this song will get overplayed just like another hit by Taylor Swift, “Anti-Hero” from her Midnight album. This song is the song that is associated with this album because of how popular it has become.
2. “Elizabeth Taylor”
With a catchy tune, “Elizabeth Taylor” undercovers a deeper story. The iconic actress Elizabeth Taylor’s struggles with love and fame are expressed through this song. This song portrays the parallels between the two stars’ lives.
3. “Opalite”
“Opalite” is such an easy song to start dancing to with your friends. Listening to the lyrics can bring hope and just brighten your day a little. It introduces new beginnings and forgetting the painful past, even some speculating this was about the singer’s difficulty finding love and then ultimately the happiness she finds with her fiancé, Travis Kelce.
4. “Father Figure”
While the song could be interpreted in many different ways, it has an overall negative tone to it. The tone could be interpreted as melancholy which helps the song to have different meanings. The song conveys a sense of longing, perhaps for someone to be that comforting person in life: “Father Figure.”
5. “Eldest Daughter”
“Eldest Daughter” shows the emotional ride of being the oldest sibling and the sacrifices Taylor has made. This reality is having to be the dependable one in the family. It could be considered a quiet burden, no one seeing the true struggles the eldest goes through.
6. “Ruin the Friendship”
The song maintains an upbeat tune throughout, and without truly understanding the lyrics, it would have seemed like a positive song. The lively beat is hiding the sad lyrics expressing regret–regret of never confessing to her romantic feelings. Swift reflects on what could have been, closing with this unforgettable line, “Should’ve kissed you anyway.”
7. “Actually Romantic”
This dreamy love song reflects on unexpectedly falling in love with someone. The song starts with Taylor having a harmless crush but turns into something real with sweet melodies about how love surprises you. So next time love sneaks up on you, just sing along with these heartfelt lyrics.
8. “Wi$h Li$t”
Some people’s priorities are being famous or rich. However, Swift sings a romantic song about craving love in her life. Swift wants what money cannot buy, like a family and a purposeful life; this is what is truly important in Swift’s eyes. Swift expresses what she wants with a simple four words, “I just want you.”
9. “Wood”
The first time I listened to the song it made me smile. Some people like to say that the song expresses how Taylor Swift feels she no longer needs to “Knock on wood” with her relationships, because she has found something genuine with Travis Kelce. This makes me so happy she found true love that can fulfill her life with happiness.
10. “CANCELLED!”
“CANCELLED” keeps a catchy consistent tune like you could sing the whole song by memory. The song draws from her own experiences with judgement and highlights her personal decisions about friendship instead of public opinion.
11. “Honey”
Swift uses the word “Honey” in a negative and nasty way describing her past. But the word is now used with sincerity in the song showing the tender love she deserves. The song can bring you up when you’re down, reminding you there is still good in the world.
12. “The Life of a Showgirl”
The song reveals the harsh truth behind the glamorous fame and glitter, which are the downfalls that result from a life of fame. The album slowly shows the truth to the fans, singing about the difficulties of being famous with Swift’s relationships and her life as a whole.
Swift’s first album came out in 2006, and she has produced 11 more albums since. Each one has not left a fan disappointed, and now almost a decade later she has 12 complete albums. Swift’s fans are referred to as “Swifties” who know that Swift’s lucky number is 13. They ponder with the idea if there will be one more album left to go until she is done. Fans’ curiosity will have to wait. In the meantime, they can enjoy The Life of a Showgirl.
