Arabella Morabito is the only freshman on the girls varsity soccer team. Morabito was shocked when she received the email in the afternoon on Aug. 18, 2025 informing her she would play on the varsity team. She could not believe her hopes and goals had finally been achieved.
“I was really surprised, and I was really excited because I get to play a really high level of soccer,” Morabito told The Fanscotian.
Morabito had so many emotions going through her mind as she read the email. She has been working so hard, and her dream has become a reality.
Before tryouts, Morabito quickly realized that if she wanted to make varsity, practice with her club team was not going to be enough, so she went the extra mile. If she didn’t make the team, she would not have the experience with the team she loves now.
“All the girls are really nice and welcoming and we always help one another,” Morabito said.
The team has been really connecting outside of practice and game, bringing the girls closer. Morabito is so glad that she is getting to make new friends. It is a great thing to have entered high school, lifting off another weight.
“My favorite thing about the season so far is getting to bond with a team and having hangouts and pasta parties to really get to know one another,” Morabito said.
When Morabito is on the field, she feels she is getting the playing time she deserves. The competition at the varsity level is intense, putting additional pressure on her as an inexperienced player to the high school program. Despite this, she does not let that get to her, as she has already had multiple highlights of her season.
“I feel that I’m very good at talking on and off the ball and scoring some goals,” Morabito said.
Morabito scored her first two goals of the season against Kearny on Thursday, Sept. 11, helping to win the game.
“So far, two valuable lessons that I’ve learned are always talking to one another and helping each other out. It helps [the team] be more successful on and off the field,” Morabito said.
Morabito is accomplishing amazing things this season and she is destined to do even more. She has learned so much physically and mentally and is excited for the rest of her first season in high school on varsity.
