On May 16, in the New Gym at SPFHS will be supporting the fight against cancer with the SMAC basketball game at 7 p.m.. The game will take place after school hours at SPFHS. All proceeds from the game will go to Comfort Project 360, an organization that strives to make patients battling cancer comfortable and focuses on their well-being.
“Come and play – you’re not losing anything,” SMAC social media manager and board member, Hayley Sackett said “It’s just for fun and to raise money. The more people that play, the more other people [will] come.”
Sign ups are open to all grades via a google form that will be released by SMAC; these sign ups will close April 11. SMAC hopes to raise money through their ticket sales and concessions at the game itself.
This is the first year SMAC has taken on a basketball game. After the successful powder puff football game last year, this seemed like a perfect way to raise even more awareness.
“Hopefully this can become a tradition for a while,” Sackett said.
Updates and more information will be found throughout SMAC’s instagram: @spfhs_smac. More information will also be provided on the daily announcements. Come join the fight against cancer by supporting the SPFHS SMAC basketball game!
