On Jan. 10, MUSE Literature Club is hosting their first Open Mic Night of the year in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School cafeteria from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m..
Originally, on Dec. 13, MUSE Literature Club was scheduled to host their Open Mic Night in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School cafeteria from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the event had been postponed until a future date.
All profits from the event are put towards MUSE’s annual end-of-year literary magazine.
In past years, participants have performed prose, music and stand-up comedy at Open Mic Night. Known acts for the upcoming event include comedy, musical performances and many more.
“It’s stressful to put together [Open Mic Night], but I just love seeing the students’ performances,” MUSE advisor and SPFHS English teacher Brian McKenna told The Fanscotian. “Whatever it is, whether it’s poetry, music or anything, it’s just so cool to see students do things outside of class.”
Snacks and pizza will be available, and it is a great chance to see some amazing SPFHS talent showcased and express students’ own creative spirits. Admission into the event is free, although it is recommended that attendees bring money if they want to put in a donation.
“I really love the community that is created on the night of [Open Mic Night], because everyone is in this space being vulnerable together, and it’s really amazing,” MUSE President and SPFHS senior Samantha Blaschak said.
Don’t miss out on this exciting event and stop by SPFHS at 6:30 p.m.!
