Over the course of six weeks from Sept. 17 to Oct. 30, Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School has been holding a college counseling workshop for incoming graduates. This workshop has been held in SPFHS’s second floor cafeteria twice a week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This has been run by SPFHS’s very own counselors and they have been providing valuable information on what to do after graduating.
The course is broken up into six weeks, each week covering a different topic. Week one covered common applications and week two covered putting together SRARs. Week three focused on Naviance, with week four helping people just getting started. Week five will share information on community college. Lastly, week six will be covering trade school, the military and employment.
“We have broken down the most common areas of support that students need through their post-high school planning process,” SPFHS guidance counselor Amanda Moser said.
This six-week workshop is an opportunity for everyone nearing the end of their high school career. It’s a place where everyone can work through their questions and confusion together. No matter what stage students are in, they can benefit from this event.
