At 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School seniors are invited to enjoy a movie on the green at the Shady Rest Country Club as the school year comes to a close.
SPFHS is working with Scotch Plains Parks and Recreation to plan this event. They are providing the money for all the movie-night essentials including food, a screen and the movie. There will be no shortage of pizza, popcorn and water for everyone to enjoy with no cost.
The Student Council sent out a link for all the seniors to suggest movies they wanted to watch. The Student Council then chose three options and had seniors vote on “Mean Girls,” “Shrek” and “The Barbie Movie.” “Mean Girls” was the winner.
This event is being advertised on social media, sent out via text message in the senior group chat and will be announced at the final senior class meeting.
“I want this to be a place where seniors can come together with their friends and just hang out and enjoy our last couple events together,” Senior Class President Kyle Karyczak told The Fanscotian. “Now there’s really not much time left so everyone should come out and enjoy it.”
In the coming weeks there are many events for seniors to enjoy the last moments of the school year before summer. Senior breakfast was today, May 17, where students can enjoy bagels and pastries before the first block. Prom is June 14 at the Imperia in Somerset, and to close it off graduation is on June 18.
