The Mental Health Awareness club (MHAC) held their second Wellness Fair on April 4 from 6:00 to 8:30p.m. Everyone was able to attend and there were numerous volunteer opportunities as well.
MHAC president Lily Jayinski attended the event and made sure that everything ran smoothly.
“We invited several mental health related local organizations to the Wellness Fair at which they both gave presentations to our attendees of adults from the district,” Jayinski said. “Many organizations also had tables to give away physical resources and descriptions of what they do for our community.”
The Wellness Fair was successful in bringing together many resources for the attendees, organizations and SPFHS. Since this was only the second year in which the event was held, the club is able to benefit by learning about everything that occurred during the event and then using that to improve events in the future.
“My favorite part of the Wellness Fair was saying goodbye to the attendees as they left because each and every one expressed such a great amount of gratitude to our club for hosting the event,” Jayinski said. “It was clear how much they gained from being there.”
The club will continue to hold events like the Wellness Fair in order for everyone in the community to have the opportunity to seek mental health related support, educate themselves on mental health and even just talk about the topic.
The hope for MHAC is for the club to grow with more students and for topics like mental health to be normalized in conversation and education.
