As an education system, Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School values its culture and student body through a presentation of various “student hotspots.” This includes sports, clubs, electives and more. Each of these culture-enhancing opportunities receives appropriate recognition, so now it’s time to put the spotlight on one of the school’s main sources of news and entertainment, Raider News.
With the intent to bring awareness to the daily lives of the students and faculty of SPFHS, the school’s very own news source, Raider News, dedicates lots of time to the publishing of its videos. The channel strives to upload numerous times per week and receives hundreds of views on each of their uploads.
”[Raider News] is a good outlet for working with [students by] interviewing [them], and
[presenting] their creativity [while] having fun with one another.” senior Raider News interviewer Tara Cino told The Fanscotian. “Every group [in SPFHS] has a dynamic that we strive to [display].”
Raider News staff are placed into different groups according to their creative specialties. They divide filming, interviewing, editing and uploading amongst each other to remain consistent in posting on their channel.
“[Groups] rotate what days we upload our videos, [giving] us time to edit in between,” senior Raider News interviewer, Julianna Magluilo said.
Raider News consistently goes live on YouTube each week, using their new piece of equipment, which they received at the start of the 2024 calendar year.
“Almost every day [when Raider News] live streams now, we [use] the TriCaster machine to mix films with the broadcast.” Raider News advisor Raymond Moskal said.
Using this new addition to upload daily, Raider News strives to make SPF an inclusive space through its YouTube news channel, which is available for all students’ entertainment.
