Scotch Plains Fanwood High School’s club, Students Concerned for the Needy (SCN) invites students to donate gently used books and clothes for kids in foster care until March 22.
The items collected will be donated to the Pajama Program, a non-profit organization founded in 2001 by Genevieve Piturro.
The program believes all children should have access to what they need for a good night’s sleep. Additionally, the program is committed to a nondiscriminatory approach to support the communities that need assistance most.
SCN planned this drive as spring approaches since people are often cleaning out their homes around this time, hence the name “Spring Cleaning Drive.” The board hopes families will find clothing and books that are no longer of use to them.
All donations can be dropped off in SCN advisor Robert Stevens’s room(152) or in the labeled bins at doors one and twelve.
“Drives like these are important to support the people in our community,” said sophomore Reilly Amberg. “If ordinary people like us don’t do anything to help others, then who will?”
For any further involvement in the non-profit, visit their website at pajamaproject.org. There are plenty of ways to get involved, such as volunteering, donating and fundraising for the kids who need it most.
