As we all know Feb. 14 is Valentine’s Day, also known as the day of love. On this day, people all over the world celebrate their love for each other. This holiday is often celebrated by going out to dinner with your significant other and getting them gifts including but not limited to chocolate, flowers or jewelry.
But what about single people who have no significant other on Valentine’s Day? This is where “Galentine’s Day” comes in.
Galentine’s Day is when groups of girls or ‘gals’ come together and hang out for one night to celebrate their loving friendships
“It is a nice opportunity for friends to come together and celebrate their friendship,” SPFHS senior Hanna McCann told The Fanscotian.
“Galentine’s” is celebrated on or around Valentine’s day. Girls often go to a friend’s house wearing comfy and cute pajamas. To get extra festive, there are fun decorations like pink and red balloons, flowers and candles. Typical Galentine’s cuisine includes charcuterie boards, desserts, candy and other desserts!
Some fun activities include making heart-shaped personal pizzas, making mocktails, playing fun games, watching romcoms and taking cute Polaroids and digital pics together to remember the night.
“My favorite part about Galentines is spending quality time with my friends, and it’s also more fun than having an actual valentine,” SPFHS senior Katie Fitzgerald said.
Galentine’s Day allows girls to have a good night with their friends and celebrate Valentine’s Day even if they don’t have a significant other. Also, the word “galentines” makes it more fun and creates better memories and friendships among girls.
